Dreamy watercolors: Our new fave abstract print

The design process

The initial design process always begins with inspiration from the likes of catwalks and seasonal print trends. I’m also inspired by a good old-fashioned trip to the mall, as well as weekend strolls through the countryside. The huge variety of colors within a singular flower petal often provides all the motivation I need to work on my next design. One of my all-time favorites is appreciating the gorgeous colors emitted when the sun beams through a stained glass window. The resulting pastel halo is uniquely inspiring. 

Colors

Next, I look for colors that work well alongside one another and successfully create the general mood and feeling I’m trying to convey. For this watercolor design, my focus was on a delicate and ethereal palette. This enabled me to work with various tools to create and unite my print designs. I created the watercolor print pack with a mix of painterly techniques in diluted hues. The result was a stunning commercial update, boasting heritage floral offerings that were achieved through artistic and romantic techniques to create the watercolor style.

Techniques

The design you see in front of you is a result of brush strokes, computer-aided manipulations, and hand-painted florals. It was achieved via various mediums, including brush and color techniques, photographs, and multiple filters. All of these combined to result in a washed texture in these beautiful hues that deliver a one-of-a-kind abstract design.
